In Uganda today, there are very many Primary Schools which always participate in Post Primary Ball Games. These games are ever organised by the Ministry of Education and Sports yearly. In these games, Schools always present their participants based in genders; whereby they present under twelve (12) and under fourteen (14) in ball games both girls and boys.
My school always takepart in these ball games competitions and in our sub-zone, we are always the best. Even if our school is always the best in the sub-zonal competitions, we don’t always proceed our best participants to the next level (Zonal competitions) which I always refer to as failure caused by our sub-zone leaders.
By the end of every year’s competition, good talents who might have proceeded to the next level and face other different competition and also be identified by other football and netball sponsors end up missing such big opportunities to brighten their future. I always sit down and ask myself why, some districts in Uganda produce good and quality talents especially in ball games and not ours; I realized that their leaders from sub-zone to the zone levels are ever active and serious on such opportunities in order to help learners with talents to get good chances out of their talents.
So, I encourage our subzone leaders to also be as active as others for the good of our young talents and our country as well.
Not only that, learners in Uganda face other challenges like poor Education System. first of all, in Uganda, especially in Secondary level, students have alot of subjects to study and understand at the same time which I have realized as the cause of failure to other students who are being taught many things in different subjects yet one may have passion and talent in one or two of the subjects.
The change which I would like the Ministry of Education and Sports to put in action is to always consult from the learners on what they are interested in and they put all their emphasis on that other than being taught ten subjects which he/she is not talented in because studying goes with talent and passion.
